The biggest challenge to providing adequate health care to undocumented workers is overcoming the hesitation and trepidation held by the workers. No matter how great the health programs or staffs in these programs are, if you're unable to gain the trust of the workers (which is a huge feat to accomplish), then there will still be a huge gap in ensuring health coverage to these workers. During undergrad, I was able to meet several undocumented workers at my job and I realized that for the vast majority of them, the money that they earned from working 6, sometimes 7 days out of the week, was sent back to their family in Mexico. The little money they kept for themselves was spent on the daily necessities such as rent, lunch, etc. They informed me that they often worked through their illnesses as the time spent traveling to the health clinic equated to lost wages for their family and that even if they had went to the clinic, there was always the fear of being reported since the clinic in their mind was a "government" building.
